Alicia Keys zoomed in with Valentine in The Morning not only on the day of the release of her new album 'Alicia,' but right before the 10 year anniversary of our virtual iHeartRadio Music Festival. Alicia is opening up the festival and is performing her brand new song "Love Looks Better." She tells Valentine in the Morning what the song means to her,
"I love it so much and it's crazy because a lot of this music that's been coming forth through this process of all this new world that we're living in, i've noticed that it really has just almost been made for these times...'Love Looks Better' is an example of that. It really just talks about how we've been so busy, we've been moving so fast trying to do everything else...and kind of forgot to just be in the present. The truth is that my love looks better on you."
Alicia has such a positive energy about her as she always emphasizes on the importance of self-worth and seeing your insecurities and imperfections as your strength. She shares tips that she does every day to accept the side of her that's insecure, the side of her that feels fear, and that side of her that feels vulnerable.
"When I really need it, I list 5 things that i'm grateful for. If you're feeling like crap and everything is kind of going wrong. If you're really trying to figure it out, I just say, 'I can walk, i'm awake, my kids are healthy, my mother is safe, and i'm able to sing.' It centers me like yes there's things going on, but look at all the things that you actually have so that helps a lot."
Alicia partnered with the NFL to launch a $1 Billion fund aimed at supporting black businesses and communities.
"It is really really time to collectively empower black America. We can see the disparities, we can see the issues, we can see the deep racism that exists and we want to change it. As an artist i'm always thinking about what can I bring forth using my platform, using my heart, my love, and my voice just to create things that will do something for people.
