Many people have received their stimulus checks from the IRS last month, but some people are still waiting. If you're wondering where your check is, The Internal Revenue Service has started taking calls to answer all of your questions, but you should still anticipate long waits. About 3,500 IRS workers are back answering the phones after having to shut down most call centers due to the coronavirus pandemic. When you call, you'll listen to a recorded message and then you'll have the option to speak to a representative. According to the IRS,
“IRS telephone assistance and other services will remain limited, and answers for most of the common questions related to Economic Impact Payments are available on IRS.gov. The IRS anticipates bringing back additional assistors as state and local advisories permit.”
The IRS also said they will send about 4 million payments by prepaid debit card instead of check starting this week. If you receive one of the prepaid debit cards, you'll be able to make purchases, withdraw cash from certain ATMs, and transfer funds to your bank accounts from the cards without incurring any fees.
