Look, there are times in life when you just don't wanna go out. You don't wanna go to have dinner at some bar, you don't want to go get drinks on a school night. You don't want to have to be "ON" when you are in retreat mode and you don't want to have to entertain when you really just don't want to do anything at all.
Trust me. I know. I've been there and I get it. And when this happens, you can either fake it until you flop or you can just make up an excuse which seems legit... and hope that engaging on that level, will help you to get through what you are facing.
That being said, our friends over at BUSTLE made a list of 21 excuses you can use which sound legit... if you need to ditch on some plans. I would offer these to you in the hopes you can use them... and get the rest/peace/time off you need!
1) I'm tired. Because you are.
2) I'm on deadline. Because, well, you could be.
3) I've got Zoom fatigue. This is me, right now. Especially since it jacked up my studio PC, but that's another story.
4) I'm not up for seeing people. Because, well, you aren't.
5) I just got really cozy. Because, why would you want to go out if you are all cozy and such?
6) My friend is going through a rough time right now. Because my friend Mike Klein typically is to some degree.
7) I'm not feeling so well. Because... COVID. You never know.
8) I'm vomiting copiously. Because... COVID. You never know.
9) I went way too hard last night. Because, well, you may have now that bars and stuff are open late again.
10) I have to work tonight. Because everyone is doing more than just one job and if you aren't, well, you are lucky for now but the times they are a' changin'
11) I have to work early tomorrow. Because you do.
12) I'm broke. Because your daughter's college tuition is ridiculous.
13) My wallet, phone, or identity were stolen. Because they can't prove they weren't!
14) Oh, that was tonight? Hey, these days, thanks to COVID and stuff, who knows what day is what anymore.
15) UGH, my bike is in the shop! Because you broke it. And they can't prove you didn't.
16) I forgot my mom/dad/bros/family are in town tonight. You can't question when someone wants to hang with family.
17) I've got a pet/family/roommate emergency. Could be legit. Just hope they don't investigate it.
18) I got caught up with some work. Hey, this happens to me all the time. True story. I'm a radio superhero who needs no sleep and so I don't say no and I do whatever it takes... and sometimes it causes some life-interference.
19) Something came up. Because it probably did. Can't hate on it.
20) Just start crying. This move never fails. Ever.
21) Honestly, I'd rather stay home and read. Hey, that's a mental health thing. If you need to stay in your safe-space with a book... they have to respect that!
