Tanya Rad Explains She's Suffering Being “Single-Shamed”

Are you single? Do you feel like people single-shame you over how you spend your time? Tanya Rad revealed on-air on Wednesday, April 24, that she feels like she’s being “single-shamed” for specific things that people who are, for example, married or have kids, aren’t.

“To be honest, it happens a lot,” Tanya explained. “At work and outside of work … just because I’m single, doesn’t mean I don’t have things to do.”

Tanya explained that there was a last minute meeting called later in the afternoon at work and that if she skipped her previously planned workout, she’d be charged for rescheduling. Other coworkers who have kids were excused from the meeting because they needed to pick up their kids etc, but when Tanya mentioned she had already made plans, she was “shamed” for it.

“I’m very committed to work,” Tanya reiterated, sharing that the workout example was just “an isolated incident.”

“It happens constantly,” Tanya added. “Let’s say I wanted to spend my money on something and it’s like, ‘Don’t you have better things to spend your money on?’ And I’m like, ‘Well, I’m allowed to do what I wanna do!’”

A few listeners added that while these plans are "adjustable," they agree Tanya should be able to do what she wants outside of work freely, but that when you become a parent, that's your No. 1 job.

What do you think? Have you ever been “single-shamed?” Watch back the on-air moment in the video above and sound off in the comments below:
