Meredith and Olivia would so approve. Taylor Swift, Jennifer Hudson, James Corden and Ian McKellen are set to star in a movie version of Andrew Lloyd Webberâs smash musical Cats.
Cats is one of the longest running musicals in London and on Broadway.
According to Deadline, Tom Hooper (The Kingâs Speech) will direct the film, which has been adapted by Lee Hall (Billy Elliot) from Webberâs musical. Hooper has been prepping the project for two years and it is set to shoot in the UK this fall. Additional casting is under way.
The play follows a tribe of cats called the Jellicles over the course of one night as they decide which of their group will ascend to the âHeaviside Layerâ and come back to a new life.
Itâs unclear what role Swift will play. The songstress last appeared in 2014 feature The Giver.
Hudson, who won an Oscar for her role in Dreamgirls, will play Grizabella, a showstopping "glamour cat.â
