Couple Decides to Continue With Their Wedding Despite Volcanic Eruption

It's said that a wedding is one of the most stressful days in a person's life. Will it rain? Will it be windy? Will the other person turn up?

One thing you can generally bank on is that there won't be a volcanic eruption, spewing hot lava and ash out into the sky.

But that's exactly what happened to bride Kat and husband Chino Vaflor when they tied the knot at Savannah Farm, Alfonso, the Philippines, over the weekend.

Prior to the wedding, the happy couple had been warned about the nearby Taal Volcano erupting, but at the start of the ceremony the alert was not an emergency.

However, just as the couple began their walk down the aisle, a massive plume of volcanic ash began to form in the sky, creating a pretty ominous scene.

Wedding photographer Randolf Evan and his team caught the incredible moment on camera.

He said at the start of the ceremony the alert level (out of five) was only a level two, but it quickly escalated as the ceremony went on.

He said: "Then halfway through the ceremony it goes up to level 4, that's the time the wedding planner and coordinator were starting to talk to the Chino and Kat about the matter

"Surprisingly the mood throughout the day was calm. It was an intimate wedding so most of the couple's guests were family and close friends.

"Funny enough, the smoke from the volcano just kind of like served as an entertaining backdrop changing from white, yellow, pink and finally to grey."

The eruption of Taal volcano, which is located around 45 miles south of the Philippine capital Manila, caused a mass evacuation of 8,000 people from the area.

Erupting 34 times over the past 450 years, it is the second most active volcano in the Philippines.

Speaking about what is probably one of the more interesting weddings he's been to, Evan went on: "We [the photographers] just did our work as usual, but the challenge was for us to talk to them and help maintain their composure as the situation showed no sign of stopping.

"Our team as well as the rest of the suppliers was just getting a feel if the couple wanted to postpone or not.

"They ended up going ahead with everything as we later found out that they have been planning for this day for eight years.

"It was going to be a special day for them no matter what, and it definitely was.

"They were even able to do their vows, first dance and speeches and watch their on-site slideshow. It was all very memorable despite the reception's program getting cut short."
