Brian McKnight isn't tolerating Jaguar Wright's comments about his personal life anymore.
According to a report TMZ published on Tuesday, April 29, the famed R&B singer filed a defamation lawsuit against Wright over numerous false claims she made online. The neo-soul singer allegedly told her social media followers that McKnight hired prostitutes and abused them during their sexual encounters. She also claimed McKnight abused his ex-wife, Julie McKnight, who Wright identified as her cousin. The "Anytime" crooner said none of that is true. He vehemently denied abusing his ex-wife and claimed he had no idea she was related to Wright.
McKnight claims Jaguar knew she was lying about him, but continued to drag his name through the mud anyway. He's suing for unspecified damages. Meanwhile, Wright didn't take long to respond to the singer's lawsuit. She took to Instagram, called him a "scumbag" and vowed to be a "nightmare" for him. Julie McKnight hasn't addressed the lawsuit as of presstime.
Jaguar Wright has built a reputation for making outlandish statements about celebrities. She originally gained notoriety as a singer who worked with The Roots and JAY-Z in the late 1990s and early 2000s. However, in recent years, she became well-known for telling unconfirmed stories about artists like Sean "Diddy" Combs, JAY-Z and his wife Beyoncé. During her appearance on Piers Morgan's "Uncensored" show, Wright called the Carters a "nasty little couple."
“This has been a fist of tyranny that has been punching through our culture and society for decades,” Wright told Morgan. “It must stop... They're a nasty little couple. They do nasty things. Keeping people against their will, putting people on planes while they're unconscious."
The superstar couple sent Morgan a legal warning, which prompted him to edit out her comments from the interview. The journalist also apologized for having her on his program.
