You know what they say — when one door closes, another one opens. And as it relates to Shawn Mendes, the singer/songwriter says that there is room in his life for love, following his very public breakup with Camila Cabello.
Mendes, who is on the cover of Interview Magazine, opened up about his new album and more in an interview with John Mayer. Mayer asked, "In this all-consuming journey that you’re on, is there room for someone else right now?" and Mendes replied:
"Absolutely. I refuse to let the industry consume me at this point. I finally realized that giving everything to music is not the best thing for my relationship with it. If I really want it to shine, I need to have other love in my life, and if I want that love to shine, I need to have music. [Laughs] I keep forgetting we’re doing an interview and I’m about to say things I probably shouldn’t, but dude, we—you know the vibes."
Shawn added of his current love life, "The room’s open. Right now I’m trying to not overromanticize every single thing. If there’s a good thing, I’m going to let it be a good thing and not suffocate it."
Earlier in the interview Shawn revealed he is releasing a new song from his upcoming album, Shawn, called "Isn't That Enough," AND he is playing his album top-to-bottom six small theater shows — "500 people max."
Shawn is Mendes' fifth full-length album set to be released on November 15th, just a few weeks after the original release date. In a recent message to fans, Shawn explained to fans of the postponement, "My team and i have decided to push the album release date to November 15th. We just need a little bit more time to bring some new inspiration and ideas to life. I love you guys thank you for being so patient, I can’t wait to see you guys at the next few shows."
