Natalie Portman made a fashion statement at the 92nd Academy Awards on Sunday, February 9. The actress embroidered her Dior cape with the names of the female directors not nominated for an Oscar at the ceremony this year.

“I wanted to recognize the women who were not recognized for their incredible work this year in my subtle way,” Portman explained in a video tweeted out by Los Angeles Times journalist Amy Kaufman.

Names on her chic cape included Lorene Scarfaria (Hustlers), Lulu Wang (The Farewell), Greta Gerwig (Little Women), Mari Diop (Atlantics), Marielle Heller (A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood), Melina Matsoukas (Queen & Slim), Alma Har'el (Honey Boy) and Céline Sciamma (Portrait of a Lady on Fire).

For the second year in a row, female directors were shut out of the Directing category at the Academy Awards, which prompted major backlash when the nominees announced last month.

Those included this year in the category include: Martin Scorsese (The Irishman), Todd Phillips (Joker), Sam Mendes (1917), Quentin Tarantino (Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood), and Bong Joon Ho (Parasite.)
