10K steps is a made up number

You’ve probably heard that you need 10 thousand steps to be healthy. Is that true? Where did that number come from. Well, it comes from japan in the mid 60’s, when the Olympics were going to be in Tokyo a company designed the first wearable step-counter who’s name translated to 10,000 step meter. After research, it was found the average Japanese person took between 3500 and 5000 steps per day and if they could increase to 10K they would improve their health.
