Meghan Trainor is addressing the critics who had something to say about her family's surrogacy journey.

During an April 9 appearance on Kylie Kelce's Not Gonna Lie podcast, the "All About That Bass" singer opened up about the experience of her and husband Daryl Sabara welcoming their third child, daughter Mikey Moon, via surrogate due to health concerns, a major change over her previous pregnancies, per People. The couple are also parents to sons Riley, 5, and Barry, 2.

"[We had] heartbreaking, big decision-making to do," she said. "And I was struggling with my health and almost towards an autoimmune disease. So there's so many conversations back and forth. Then we were like, the safest way is to do it through a surrogate."

Even if surrogacy was the safest option to expand their family, Trainor admitted she still struggled with the change of not carrying her baby.

"Every day when we knew she was alive in someone else, we were like, 'Is she okay?'" she said. "You know, like you go cuckoo, you go crazy. There's so much that goes into it, but we had an amazing surrogate who was so good to us and texts us everything and we got to talk all the time."

Trainor also knew that there would be some online criticism over their surrogacy journey so there was "a cloud of tears every night of just worry" about sharing the news with the world.

"I didn't look [at the comments]. I knew fully — because it was after all the hate I was already getting for changing, just for looking different because I took care of myself — so I was like, 'Oh, they hate me now. That ain't gonna like this,'" she said, adding, "I want my daughter to come to this world and not everyone attack her for the way she got here. All of that went through my head."

Fortunately, Trainor had a strong network in her husband and family, her team and a therapist to support her through the criticism.

"We cried a lot," she said, "but it was the best thing for our family."

Trainor announced on Instagram in January that she and Sabara had secretly welcomed their daughter via their "superwoman surrogate," sharing several photos of their family.

"Our baby girl Mikey Moon Trainor has finally made it to the world thanks to our incredible, superwoman surrogate," she wrote. "We are forever grateful to all the doctors, nurses, teams who made this dream possible. We had endless conversations with our doctors in this journey and this was the safest way for us to be able to continue growing our family. We are over the moon in love with this precious girl."
